Entoto Sunrise Ridge

About this hike

Leave the city in the dark, watch the sun come up over Addis from 3,100 m, and be back for breakfast.

We start at the Entoto Park gate while it is still cold and quiet, and climb steadily through the eucalyptus to the ridge line.

The last twenty minutes are the steepest, and they are timed so you reach the viewpoint just before the sun clears the horizon.

We come down a gentler track past the old church, finishing back at the gate by mid-morning.
